Pond maintenance that keeps your water clear and your fish healthy.
Koi ponds, water gardens, pondless waterfalls and fountains across Roseville, Antelope and the Greater Sacramento area. Flexible schedules built around your pond.
Every pond is different. Your maintenance should be too.
A shaded koi pond under an oak tree and a sunny pondless waterfall need very different care. That is why we offer three levels of pond maintenance instead of one package. We look at your pond, your fish load, your filtration and your trees, and recommend the schedule that keeps it healthy without paying for visits you do not need.
On every visit we skim debris, check and clean filters and skimmer baskets, trim and care for aquatic plants, check water quality and flow, and make sure the pump and waterfall are running the way they should.
Three ways to keep your pond healthy
- Weekly pond maintenance. Consistent upkeep for ponds with heavy fish loads, lots of trees, or owners who want it looking its best every single week.
- 6-month pond cleaning. A deeper spring and fall cleaning to remove accumulated sludge, leaves and algae before they affect water quality and fish health.
- Annual pond cleaning. One thorough yearly cleaning, ideally late winter through spring, after fall and winter debris has settled in and before the water warms up.
If your pond has gone years without attention, start with a complete pond clean-out and then keep it that way with regular maintenance.
Pond care through the Sacramento seasons
Spring is when ponds wake up: water warms, fish start eating, and algae blooms if nutrients from winter are still in the water. Summer heat drops oxygen levels and pushes evaporation. Fall drops leaves that sink and rot. Winter slows everything down. A good maintenance schedule is timed to those seasons, and we will tell you plainly which one your pond needs.

How we care for your pond
Assess
We look at fish load, filtration, shade and plants, then recommend weekly, 6-month or annual care.
Clean
Debris, baskets, filter pads and surfaces are cleaned so the biological filter can do its job.
Balance
We check water quality and add beneficial bacteria or treatments only when your pond needs them.
Check equipment
Pump, plumbing, lights and the waterfall are checked for flow, leaks and wear.
Frequently asked about pond maintenance.
How often should a pond be cleaned?
Most Sacramento-area ponds do well with a thorough cleaning once a year, ideally between late February and May, plus regular upkeep. Ponds under heavy trees or with many fish often need a 6-month schedule or weekly visits.
Is pond maintenance safe for my koi and goldfish?
Yes. We never over-clean a pond. Keeping the biological filter healthy and avoiding sudden water changes is what keeps fish safe, and we treat tap water with dechlorinator any time we top off.
Do you take care of fountains and pondless waterfalls?
Yes. Fountains and pondless features are some of our most common jobs, including pump replacements, float valves and algae control.
Can you fix a pond pump or leak during a visit?
Often, yes. Minor repairs like pump swaps, valve replacements and tubing fixes can usually be handled on the spot. Bigger issues get a clear quote first.
